Indian LSR
“Indian LSR” - I've always been attracted to land speed record vehicles: motorcycles, cars, and boats. Their engines are always punched out to the max and they are virtually useless for anything else but going fast. I also like motorcycles and the LSR bikes are always stretched out and low to pierce the air and be very stable. This piece is a 1920-ish Indian and is a found object miss - mash of objects. The wheels are cast aluminum with thin rubber tires just like the big real ones. These came off an ambulance gurney. The gas tank was made of scraps of cherry and tiger maple that I found in my shop and glued together. The rider figure helmet is also of the same wood. The controls on these type bikes are near the rear so the rider can lay down to become more streamlined. When my wife gets her hair cut I ask for the scraps and I used some for the riders hair that comes out of the rear of the helmet, to me this adds a little character to the piece.
