Slotted Hemi Dome
“Slotted Hemi Dome” - This was a commissioned work made from one eight-inch solid copper, I bought my big Tig welder to produce this piece. I barely knew how to weld with it. The solid back had to be pieced together and as I welded it after about 3 ft of weld I stopped and lifted my helmet and was horrified there was a 6-inch hump...I later realized you must slowly tack the pieces together to dissipate the heat, a little at a time. I always saw it as a kind of jellyfish....but others (more than one) see it as a camel's ass, which goes to prove, every body sees something different. Fabricated copper - 5ftx6ft from 1986.
