The Hitchhiker
“The Hitchhiker"- The hitchhiker is made from carved Elm. She was one of my first life-sized wood carving, her arms were cut off before I found her as was her left leg. She was being thrown into a farmer's fire after a barn cleanout and I just happened along at the right time - they gladly put her in my truck not knowing what I was going to do with that old chunk of wood! A few years after completeing piece, she was a bought by a famous opera singer and shipped up to New York City. II never saw her again. The title is reminiscent of the old movies where the pretty girl is trying to hitch a ride by showing her shapely leg. Lifesize from1982 .
